MUSH-ROOM - Taking pictures on the floor of the muddy woods amongst the mushrooms, you can see a whole little world in a very minute space. Tiny creatures making nests, carrying food, corralling offspring and everything that we do up here, but in a more eco-friendly manner. This is one of my favourite Photo Collage pastimes in the Spring. I call this style Human-Nature. Combining our Human world with Nature’s world and photograph how the two get along. There are other Photo Collages on the site with this in mind. ”High Wire Act” and “On & Off The Grid” are a few. Thankfully Spring is here, so I can watch for new growth and all creatures great & small… 'Careful Where You Step'.

ON & OFF THE GRID ~ This Photo Collage was created in the winter of 2020, and combines an apartment complex in a square of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico and the greenery around home. In 2020 during Pandemic Lockdown, I took pictures of bugs, snakes, flowers, weeds and critters, so this became 'On and Off the Grid. For me, 'Off' The Grid means silence, a chance to think, breathe, listen and learn. But 'On' The Grid mean screaming fast computers, artists, music, good cell service, a heavy bag at the gym and reservations! So for now, I'm 'On' it, making my website. To quote a cherished friend recently, "I'm not done yet." See you soon...

BETWEEN APRIL & JULY - A B&W / Colour Combo ~ Here I’ve shown my B&W photo of a window box full of sleeping vines in April, and the same photo as a happy blue version again in late July = ‘World’s Apart’ by Mother Nature. It’s the state of the vines in their transition from early Spring to full-on Summer, or in other words, padded jackets to t-shirts, beef stew to hot dogs or Spring cleaning to holidays abroad. The best of both worlds for me, as B&W conjures up completely different thoughts about the artwork into a conversation about composition, light/shadow, texture and tones. The hue of the coloured version is so saturated that it just makes me reminisce about my bikini from last year, and what I might shop for the next time I hit the beach ~ in RIO!

ALICE’S TEAPOT - As mentioned in the full backstory of my March 2022 Newsletter, my Photo Collage of 'Alice's Teapot’ was sparked by an extraordinary experience involving a force of nature. It’s a story of love, of home & family, of survival, of gratitude, of friendship and the realization that all things that were, may or may not be saved or ever ‘live’ again. This special gifted teapot has a soul, and my illustration of it here is disguised, shrouded in saturated colour and shape to make one wonder about it’s journey and how that journey will continue today, 47 years later. Most people have a special something that will never end up on the ‘downsize’ list or annual garage sale. The very reason I love photographs is that I’m able to capture moments that can never be repeated, yet their stories can live forever.
