Tribute to: WHITNEY HOUSTON (1963- 2012) ~ One of America's most sensational pop singers of all time. Her 'Greatest Love Tour' debuted worldwide on July 26, 1986 in support of her Whitney Houston Album. While taking photos of the London Music Scene for a Danish Rock Magazine, I had the privilege of photographing Whitney in concert at the Wembley Arena - London, England, October 16, 1986. Film camera, no flash allowed, shot with Kodak EL & Ilford HP5. This photo combines two of my Photos from that Show. The concert was staged on a huge round platform in the centre of the arena, 9-piece band & four backup vocalists. Several years later, I met Rickey Minor (bass player/producer/composer & Whitney's music director) while working at our Sound Image Studios in LA. Rickey thought she’d like my photo collage that we had hanging in the studio, so he surprised Whitney with a copy as a gift. I was honoured to be in such good company.
Example Room set with easy Photo placement - sitting on shelf instead of hanging on wall.

ERIC CLAPTON ~ This concert was held at the Royal Albert Hall, January 6, 1987. No Photo passes handed out, so I had to sneak in to the pit and keep away from security-shooting for 3 tunes only-flash ok. Clapton's guest was Mark Knopfler from the Dire Straits. The Show was a combination of old and new music, but according to the reviews, the 'old stuff' was the best. The next day, one London newspaper wrote that Clapton ‘was out of fashion 10 years ago (prior to the Jan 6th Show), but has gone beyond fashion and has simply learned how to make an art of being a guitar legend’. Yes, he did! Luckily, and contrary to shooting with film, I got lots of great shots for the magazine, but this is the one I like best because he just looked so genuinely happy, and at-one with himself and the musicians he was with that night.

SAGA ~ I took this Photo of SAGA in concert at the SodaClub in Montreal, P.Q. in 2015. This might be my favourite Saga concert shot of all time as it reminds me of how tight & powerful they play Live. I was always proud of them for that-always giving it 100%. This photo feels like they're playing 'Corkentellis'...
Shown in the photo from Left to Right: JIM GILMOUR-Keyboards & Vocals; MICHAEL SADLER-Lead Vocals, Keyboards & Bass Guitar; JIM CRICHTON-Bass Guitar & Keyboards; IAN CRICHTON-Guitars; MIKE THORNE-Drums, Percussion & Vocals.

Tribute to MILES DAVIS (1926-1991) ~ Miles Davis III was an American Jazz trumpeter, bandleader & composer. Here, Miles with Bass Player, Darryl Jones (Darryl had played bass previously with Miles, then Sting, and took over for Bill Wyman after he retired from the Rolling Stones in 1993). The concert was held at the Wembley Conference Centre, November 17, 1986, in support of Miles’ new TUTU Album. It was deemed his most ‘dance-oriented’ album. For most of the concert Miles wore his dark glasses and frequently turned his back on the audience as he played, but I did manage to capture him as he once lowered his glasses, and also got a good close-up of his hands playing his signature red trumpet. The Discography for Miles Davis reads: 61 Studio Albums, 39 Live Albums, 46 Compilation Albums, 27 Video Albums, 57 Singles, 4 Soundtrack Albums, 26 Box Sets, 72 Collaborations and 3 Remix Albums - a superhuman musical achievement!
